Ashley takes on the U.S.

Although pedal-pushing for only a year, 10-year-old Ashley Walker (shown in action below) has left behind
most BMX riders of his age.
Ashley, of Roy St, Donvale, is our Sports Star of the Week.

He recently came third in the 10-year-old ‘section of the Australian BMX Championships.
This followed a second placing in the Victorian titles.

In grade five at Donvale Primary School, Ashley rides a Super Goose BMX bike with the Pegasus BMX Club
in Doncaster.

“My cousin started racing and one Sunday I went and watched. I got interested,” he said.
“I ride every night around the area and every Sunday at race meetings at different tracks.”

Ashley is currently in the U.S. on a family holiday but his BMX interest went with him.
He is competing in race meetings during his two-week visit.

The talent for BMX riding Is certainly in the Walker family, Ashley’s sister Is No. 8 in the Victorian girls
intermediate section.
